Car cruise highlights weekend events in Wallowa County

Quilt show is Friday and Saturday in Joseph.

Classic vehicles of all descriptions and colors will trundle into Joseph this weekend for the Oregon Mountain Cruise Car Show.

Registration opens 4 p.m. Friday with a dance planned 7 p.m. in downtown Joseph.

A full day of show ‘n shine begins 9 a.m. Saturday. Live music is on tap 1-2 p.m. with the annual Ragman Memorial Cruise to Enterprise scheduled for 3 p.m.

The event concludes with a dinner and awards presentation at 5 p.m.

The event attracted more than 200 entries last year primarily from Washington, Oregon and Idaho. This year’s theme is “Wild West,” and western-wear is encouraged.

Full registration is closed; however, car owners who would like to to sign up for show ‘n shine only can register 7-9 A.m. Saturday at Joseph Community Center.


Grange breakfast


Start your busy Saturday by fueling up for Breakfast at Hurricane Creek Grange 7-10 a.m. The hall is at 82930 Airport Lane, Joseph (a mile east of the airport). Biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs, pancakes and beverages are on the menu as well as heaping helpings of smiles and laughter.


Quilt show


Wallowa Mountain Quilters Guilt members will gather more than 150 quilts for its annual show at Joseph High School. The show runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The school is at the top of the hill off Williams Ave.

Admission is $3.50 for adults and free for children under 12.

The guild is a group of dedicated quilters in Wallowa County. Regular member meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month September through June.

New members are welcome.


Farmers Market


Wallowa County Farmers Market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in downtown Joseph. Local produce, eggs, plants, handmade art and crafts and food are available.

Live music this week will be Portland-based “folk with swagger” musician Chris Baron.


Zumwalt Praire Hike


Wallowa Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy will host a Zumwalt Prairie Wildflower Hike in observance of “Get Outdoors Oregon Day” 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9.

Join local naturalists Andie Lueders and Janet Hohmann on a guided tour through the Zumwalt. Explore the home to more than 100 wildflowers and enjoy spectacular views.

Meet at Wallowa Land Trust in downtown Enterprise. Bring a lunch.The event is offered free and all are welcome. Donations are accepted.

Fiddle show


Get down your fiddle and get down your bow, a Wallowa County Saturday night awaits.

The Blue Mountain Old-Time Fiddle Show will be 6 p.m. at Hurricane Creek Grange, 63081 Hurricane Creek Road, Joseph.

Come and listen or bring an instrument and play along. Homemade pork chop dinner is served at 5 p.m. Dancing is encouraged.
