Soroptimist International of Wallowa County has formalized an application process for substantial community grants for projects that would have “significant impacts” in Wallowa County. The grant should meet the Soroptimist mission: improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.
Contributions will be made only to projects in Wallowa County, awards will be made in support of health, education, environment and the advancement of the status of women and children for the betterment of the community.
A project budget is requested, and preference will be given to projects of program delivery. Projects including administrative and/or operating expenses will be considered, while awards to individuals will be excluded.
Awards will be made based upon the availability of funds and needs assessment. Requests can range from $1,000 to $5,000. Awards may be made to more than one recipient.
In 2017, $3,000 was awarded to Josephy Center for a library intern.
Applications are available at Bookloft (Enterprise), Wallowa Public Library (Wallowa), BeeCrowBee (Joseph), Thrift Shop or by calling Janet Pulsifer, 541-398-1089.
Please return applications by March 15 to the Soroptimist Thrift Shop or mail to Soroptimist, P.O. Box 127, Enterprise, OR 97828.
